Behaviour
I offer practical help to anyone experiencing behavioural problems with their horse. This is carried out in a positive and firm yet gentle manner so as to cause no stress to the horse or owner.
I do not have any set rules for the way in which I work as every horse is different. However, I do believe in positive reinforcement and, with experience and common sense, I aim to assist owners and their horses to achieve a harmonious relationship.
Some behavioural issues occur due to physical pain. This should be eliminated first by consulting the relevant professionals such as vet, dentist and saddle fitter.
Tuition
It can be a daunting experience owning a horse for the first time and finding the correct help and information is not always easy as there are many conflicting opinions on this subject.
I offer tuition to novice horse owners who would like to improve their riding and stable management skills.
Over the years I have taught many riders of all ages and I particularly enjoy assisting novice or nervous horse owners.
Horse ownership should be an enjoyable experience yet, for many, this is not always the case due to a general lack of communication between horse and rider. This can often easily be rectified with a little bit of help.
Backing/Breaking
I believe that a horse’s introduction to being handled and ridden should be a positive experience.
Ground work plays an important part in a horse’s education as well as gentle exposure to obstacles it may come to face throughout its life.
I am able to assist in the handling and backing of young or inexperienced horses and ponies without the use of force, gimmicks or gadgets.
Yard duties
Yard duties and the exercising of horses can be carried out either on a regular basis or for holiday cover. This can range from checking on grass-kept horses, to running a full yard which would include mucking out, grooming and other general yard duties.
Other animals can also be catered for and will each receive individual attention and the best of care!
